Painting is one way in order to make an immediate impact on home improvements. Nothing can instantly perk-up your ambience than repainting, it is an instant renovation that revive faded sidings and peeling walls. A property can significantly improve through repainting. According to some painting contractors in Atlanta GA repainting a house can dramatically increase its market value and painting services in Atlanta are very affordable. Painting can also increase the lifespan of your property though you have to do it correctly in order to attain maximum benefits from your paint job. An Atlanta painter said that house painting is a serious business and you have to do it right the first time so you won’t be repainting again in just a couple of years.
You have to commit time, money and effort, even if you’re going to hire a pro. A good painting company involves you from the planning to the finishing of your paint job project. Though you’re going to exert more time and effort if you’re going to do it on your own. Painting project can be very rewarding, so in order to execute a job that you can be proud of, here are some tips and notes you might want to pick-up:
· Summer is the best time for your house-repainting project, especially the exterior.
· Choose the right paint. Good paints are durable and will not easily wear off or fade through the years. Paint quality also determines whether your paint job will look good or not, top quality paints are also easier to apply, making your work much faster as it covers surfaces more quickly and with ease. As painting is a no easy task, you wouldn’t want to be repainting the same wall again within 4 or 5 years right?
· You will only need to apply a primer if the surface to be painted is porous or the paints are incompatible like latex paint over alkyd painted surfaces.
· Repair damages and smoothen the surface to be painted. Free your surface to be painted from peeling, blistering and wrinkling but be careful not to scrape the wood or misshapen the original material. Smoothen the surface with appropriate tools like sandpaper, etc. The smoother the surface the better it will look and last.
· Cover areas that DO NOT NEED painting. Use masking tape (at least 2-3 inches thick) and drop cloths or newspapers. Mask windows or ceiling areas near the wall to be painted, but be sure to remove mask after painting to avoid stubborn bond. Cover the floor area or anything that maybe in danger of catching drop-off paints while painting.
· Paint from top most portions going down. With your high quality four-inch brush, stroke paint from the gutters or eaves going down to the main surfaces. Cover 3 to 4 square feet sections at a time. Stroke paint in a down-up motion for concretes; follow the wood grain for wooden walls or panels.
· Clean-up. Use soap and water to clean latex paints and paint thinner for alkyds to thoroughly clean paintbrushes immediately after painting. Keep excess paint tightly enclosed in cans while seal used paint thinners in bottles or cans. Do not dispose thinners and paints on the ground; also do not burn these substances as they may cause wild fire or blow-up your place. Bring these waste materials to toxic waste collection sites.
