So you’ve decided to use Adsense to help you make money online. You’re in good company – there are thousands of people around the world that earn a substantial income from Adsense ads, and some that are even able to make a full time living with Adsense. One of the things that separates website owners who make a little money, and website owners who make a lot of money, is the Adsense ad placement within their web pages.

It might not seem important to you to consider Adsense ad placement – after all, when people visit your website, they will naturally see the ads, right? Unfortunately, in the vast majority of cases, this is not true. Where you place your ads on your web page is just as important as the content of the page itself. Here are a couple of ways to make sure your Adsense ad placement helps make sure you earn as much as possible.

One thing that you should do when considering your Adsense ad placement is to avoid putting the ads in a horizontal block along the top of the page, if possible. Placing your ads here usually ensures that the Adsense ads won’t get noticed.

Why? Well, think about how many web pages you have visited that display banner ads at the top of the page. How often do you even look at these banners, let alone click on them? If you’re like most people, probably not very often. We have become so accustomed to seeing these ads at the top of web pages that we don’t even notice them.

The same is true with this Adsense ad placement. People will typically skip over your ads and go directly to your page content.

Another thing you should consider when determining Adsense ad placement is to try to integrate the ads into your content. If you place the ads between paragraphs, or place a block of ads to the right of a section of text, they will be visible to your viewers.

They will also seem more relevant to your content, so people will be more likely to click on the ads.

Let’s say you are writing a web page about how to pair wines with certain foods. In one paragraph, you list several dishes that go well with Riesling wine. If you place a block of ads after that paragraph, the ads will most likely link to websites where visitors can buy fine Riesling wines.

This Adsense ad placement could work very well for you, because after your reader learns how to pair Riesling wine with food, the next question in the reader’s mind will likely be, "Where do I find a good Riesling wine?"

The Adsense ads that follow the paragraph give your reader an immediate answer. This will result in more clicks, and more money in your pocket.
