Imagine a mix of elegant Old World Spain, the American Southwest and the magic of Walt Disney World. It all adds up to one thing:
Disney's Coronado Springs resort.
Walt Disney World's Coronado Springs resort in Orlando manages to blend new world amenities with old world charm. It also manages to seamlessly incorporate various Latin architecture styles into a beautiful complex. Then there's that extra touch of Disney magic!
About the Coronado Springs Resort
The Coronado Springs resort is the newest of Disney's Moderate resorts. This means that it has some extras that the Disney Value resorts do not offer. The hotel is fairly close to being a deluxe, but at the moderate (i.e. much better) price.
The 1,912 rooms at the resort measure 314 square feet each. Suites are available, but the majority of the rooms are standards with two double beds. A select few rooms feature king beds. The resort offers high speed Internet; however, be prepared to pay an extra charge for WiFi.
A concierge desk is available. Other amenities include limited room service, a health spa, laundry rooms, and a beauty/barber shop.
Finding Food at the Resort
The Pepper Market is a grab and go dining facility. It offers quick meals that are often prepackaged for easy eating on the go. In addition to roasted chicken, salads, and traditional food court offerings; an on site bakery offers tasty treats.
The Maya Grill is a featured table service restaurant on the Disney Dining Plan. Its fusion cuisine offers something for everyone, including chicken, fish and beef. A wonderful and delicious dessert is the perfect way to end the meal. Note that the portions are very large, and many guests report being able to split one dish. Beware that the Maya Grill is only open for breakfast and dinner, so be prepared to eat lunch elsewhere.
Things to Do at Coronado Springs
Don't miss out on the fabulously themed pools. The "Dig Site" is fashioned after Mayan ruins and offers a cool and relaxing dip in the water. The La Vida Heath Club can also be a great place to relax. State of the art exercise equipment is available, and massages can be booked.
Kids and adults will enjoy the two arcades, full of fun video games. And, there's plenty to keep anyone occupied outside. Jogging trails, volleyball, bike and watercraft rentals are all available if you enjoy the sun!
Other Information to Know
Free transportation is offered to all of the parks. The Coronado is closest to the Animal Kingdom, but all of the parks are just a short (free) bus ride away. Even Downtown Disney can be reached easily by bus.
Prices vary depending on the season. Obviously, fewer discounts will be available during peak seasons when the resort can easily sell out. Off peak times are often the best time to get a good deal. Holidays are often crowded as well, so plan accordingly.
Have a great Walt Disney World vacation!
