  1. Try eating small meals at more frequent intervals. This way the body will not think that it is being starved and will not store food as fat. Your body cannot tolerate having insufficient food to fuel the energy that you use up everyday.

  4. Include healthy fats in your diet. Fat is not the culprit to being overweight. You need some of the right fat to keep your weight at the proper level. Olive oil, safflower oil, and canola oil all have them. Tuna, salmon and mackerel are high in omega-3 fats which are good for the heart.

  5. Exercise. Walk if you are only going a few blocks from home, take the stairs instead of the elevator, use a pedometer to keep track of your steps each day. Go to the gym and take exercise classes, or exercise at home with workouts on DVD. Make sure that you do this regularly and you will not even notice that you are already shedding pounds and inches.
