Since the times of the sultanates of Delhi in the medieval ages, this city has been known for its entertainment quotient. Diaries of British officials and various records of the city people during the entire 18th and 19th century point to the vibrant nightlife that was prevalent in the city even then. During the time of Bahadur Shah Zafar, the last Mughul emperor of India, poetry sessions used to go on till dawn, sometimes attended by great poets like Zauq and Ghalib, in the presence of the emperor himself. As darkness covers Delhi, the city lights up with neon signs and street halogens, not to mention the uncountable households lit up.
