The initial and the most crucial step in essay writing is definitely choosing a topic that works. Having a boring and cliché topic is any essay writer’s nightmare. Even a custom essay that has a dull and uninspiring subject certainly won’t work.

In writing essays, the writers have some topics in mind to choose from. Whatever the topic may be there’s just one simple rule – have something that is exciting for both the reader and the writer.

Having a topic that excites the interest of the writer makes the writing process more enjoyable. But choosing an interesting subject is the most common problem of essay writers.

A good start in choosing an excellent topic is to do several readings. This is to look for appealing subjects and check whether or not there’s a sufficient amount of materials available on the selected topic.

If still having trouble in choosing a topic, observing is another way to check out potential subjects. Listing prospective topics is a smart thing to do for it is essential in evaluating the topics.

Evaluating each prospective topic the main consideration is that the amount of ideas the writer have in mind about the certain subject. Two or more topics may be equally appealing but there could only be one that will turn out to be better than the rest.

Make sure to select a topic that is challenging and mentally stimulating. It is the determinant if the chosen subject is interesting or not. It has to be a new and unique perspective about a general idea. Having a challenging subject requires a skilled essay writer, and skilled writers thrill the readers.

Another consideration is that the topic should not be a mere restatement of existing academic scheme. It is an imperative that the writer has some value added to the primary idea. The topic doesn’t need to be original per se but it should be innovatively formulated in relation to the general idea.

Before moving on to writing the essay, it is also necessary to evaluate the scope of the topic. A subject that is too general like "love" is needs to be sharpened down. It is better to have a narrower topic because it makes the essay more coherent. It also reduces the time it takes to actually write the essay. Having a comprehensive subject in essay writing leads to vague and illogical piece.

After having a topic to work on, it is important to check if it is in line with the purpose of the essay. Some essays are written to persuade people to believe something. Some essays objective is to inform and educate other people about a certain topic. Other essays are done to explain or to instruct its readers. Whatever the selected topic may be, it just needs to be inspired by the purpose.

Choosing the topic seems easy but it entails a careful scrutiny. Essay writing is supposedly entertaining and at the same time informative. But there’s no way that it can be engaging and revealing if it lacks the main ingredient for it to work – a certified out of the ordinary subject.
