I want my websites to look like… MY websites. I want it done my way – no one else’s, but at the same time I want to have a life away from the computer as well. My eyes usually don’t feel too hot after a ten hour session at the computer, and my exercise life isn’t up to par when I pull a couple of those sessions more than a couple times per week – which usually seems to happen. For these couple of reasons, I hire content writers for my websites (I own 6 websites now).

The only thing that I had a huge problem with before making my decision to hire content writers was letting other people writing the content for my website. I felt like my website was going to lose some of its uniqueness and just get lost with all the other boring web sites out there. I didn’t like putting my work in the hands of other people so I was pretty nit picky about who I chose to do my writing. When it came time for me to choose a professional content writing service I made my decision very carefully.

If you are as picky as I am about the type of content that you want on your website then you should probably follow these several guidelines when hiring content writers.

  1. Show them your website so that they can get a feel for it. If you have a problem with showing them your website then write an example page up for them.

  2. Give them a few starters on where they can get some research done at, whether it be a library or a book. Professional content writers are usually very good at research but I always like to give them a pretty good head start.

  3. Include keywords for SEO. Make sure to really stress this point. Professional article writers will always ask you this question anyways, but be ready to have a list of a couple big keywords.

  4. Create an outline for them to follow. Would you like subheadings in certain places? Are there going to be any pictures in these articles?

  5. Make sure you let them know how you want your articles to "sound." Are they formal articles, should there be some sarcasm involved, should they be very creative, or should they just be straight up informative. Try to get them to write in the style that you want for your web site.

Anything that you can think of that will help the content writers do their job better is always good. After you find the right group of content writers you can use them for the remainder of yours days on the web. That’s the beauty of it – you only need to find the right ones once, and then stick with them forever. Just make sure that you set the content writers off in the right direction in the first place and make them write how you want them to write.
