The four best reasons to consider planning a beach wedding is the low stress threshold, the multi-generation appeal, outsourcing the bulk of the decorations to nature, and the great ways you can use it to connect and build family even after the ceremony is over.
It comes with the territory that most people planning a wedding are toying with a nervous breakdown. Planning for a beach theme wedding instead is a great way to take most of the stress out of the planning and still create a memorable wedding. Ideally, you could rent a cabin or hotel suite right on the beach you plan to be married on and it could serve as the headquarters for both the wedding and the celebration to follow. It would provide a great place for family and friends to meet and perhaps even to stay over for the wedding and it would even give you a painless plan B for the wedding ceremony itself if the weather turns bad.
There’s something for everyone to appreciate, no matter what their age is, in being at the beach. Having a beach cabin or staying at a hotel on the beach would allow everyone of every generation to participate in the wedding to their fullest while still giving any older guests or guests with health problem the opportunity to have a comfortable place to go without having to leave the celebration entirely.
Kids in particular always love playing on the beach, and it can be a fun way to create family activities with things like building sand castles, chasing waves, or collecting sea shells.
When you have a beautiful backdrop for your wedding like a gorgeous beach, you really don’t need a whole lot in the way of decorations. If you plan the beach wedding at or close to a park or resort, you may even be able to reserve a waterside gazebo for the wedding, or you may want to provide your own wedding arch as an alternative.
The bride can still wear a traditional bride’s gown if they like, or you can choose a dress "code" for the wedding that would allow all of you to spend more time frolicking in the surf without fear of ruining expensive or rented clothing. One family planning their beach wedding chose their theme to be simple white t-shirts and khaki shorts, and it provided a decorative element of its own while making it easy to just have fun, too.
It’s unfortunate that it usually takes either a wedding or a funeral to get family members together, and it’s also unfortunate that the bride and groom often take off so quickly after a wedding and miss out on being able to intimately connect with people that they cherish but may rarely see. A beach wedding is a great way to turn that all around and create an event that gives people the opportunity to not just try and grab some so called quality time with each other, but to be able to spend a day – or even days – enjoying and deeply reconnecting with each other. There are all kinds of activities that can be built around a beach excursion, and your wedding can be the perfect opportunity for the family reunion you’ve been meaning to have.
