Fallen Angels refer to creatures that have fallen from their original place of grace. There are many reasons for this fall from grace or banishment from heaven. Some of the reasons for banishment are being rebellious; exhibiting free will, pride, lust, and disobedience; and refusing to bow to humans. Satan, created by God himself, is referred as the first original fallen Angel.

The Creator made Satan superior to all the other heavenly beings. He enjoyed the grace and love of God and thus garnered eternal bliss in the Kingdom of God. He was invested with immense power and second only to God. Pride and ambition corrupted Satan’s heart, and he rebelled against the Creator himself. Satan lured one third of the angels to join forces in the evil design. Divine supremacy was eventually established with Satan and his demonic force losing the battle for hegemony to God’s angelic army. Thus, Satan and the demons were condemned to a life devoid of God’s love and grace. The fallen angels contrived against their Creator and won the eternal wrath of God. They were expelled from the Kingdom of God forever. The fallen angels will walk in darkness until the Judgment Day. However, some believe that the angels like Lucifer became fallen angels due to some sin but loved God the most. So these angels will be restored God’s grace and love once they return to him.

The Bible makes a precise distinction between the realms of Good and Evil. They are the two extremes without any ambiguity, one being the Kingdom of God and the other being the Kingdom of Evil. The superiority of the Kingdom of God over the Evil is also tenaciously established. A significant deduction that can be derived from this is that in spite of a life of damnation, the original powers vested in the Satan could not be eroded. He and the rest of the fallen angels (demons) remained immortal. The fallen angels loathed the dwellers of the Kingdom of God, namely humans. Their conniving quest to corrupt Lord’s perfect world remained eternal. The original sin that the first human beings fell victim to is said to have been devised by the Satan. Some version of Christian scriptures believes that Satan rebelled against God’s decision to place the destiny of humanity in their hands. In his quest to display human unworthiness, Satan fell from his place in heaven forever. God accepted the existence of human frailties and dispelled humans from the Garden of Paradise. But unlike Satan, humans are not condemned to eternal damnation and have a chance to rise above their failings and enjoy God’s grace and love.

There is also a belief that God has a twin façade, one bright and the other dark. It was impossible for God to be accessible to humans in his pure form. So he created certain dark aspects to relate to humans. However, these dark aspects soon became all-consuming dark; instead of being God’s voice or word they acquired a free will of their own and thus became fallen angels. However this belief has not been widely accepted.

Like the angels, the fallen angels have a certain hierarchy. Some of the other famous angels are Samuel, Azazel, and Senyazza, who fell from grace due to lust for human females and Lucifer who was brandished for his pride.
