In this article, I'm going to share with you 4 of the most powerful steps you can take to meet your New Year's Resolutions. Let me tell you now that you've seen these simple steps before (but probably not all in the same place), so it's not going to be anything new to you. In fact, these are steps that you 'know' but probably don't realize. I ask that you keep in mind that though these 4 steps are simple,it's the simplest things, done consistently, that have the most power.

  1. Vision

Despite anything your mind may be telling you isn't possible, have a vision of what 2006 can be for you. Forget about 'realistic' thinking and just 'dream big.' Take a few moments now to list off 3 of the biggest things you want in the New Year.

  1. Possibility

This is where we get a little more 'realistic.' You have to know--not just 'believe,' but truly know--that your dreams are more than just 'possible'.

Listen closely: Without ever having met you, I know that unless you're a clinically delusional person, all of the things you just had a vision of are not only possible, but will happen in the New Year. In the New Year, millions will attain the 3 things you just listed.

In the New Year, many people will be consistently happy.

In the New Year, many, many, people will succeed as persons, friends, parents, and associates.

In the New Year, there will be over 7000 new millionaires.

These predictions are true, so the question about whether it's possible that you'll reach your New Year's Resolutions is a statistical 'Yes!' In fact, if you think about it from a perspective of pure chance, you're just as likely to attain all of your New Year's Resolutions, and have a great 2006, as the people (like you) who will have a great 2006. The question you need to ask yourself isn't 'Can I?' but rather, 'Will I?'

For example, if you look at 100 fresh high school graduates, 3% will be financially independent at 65. If you look at 1 of these 100, what are the chances of her becoming financially independent?

That's right--3%, the same as the other 99 graduates.

So the question isn't 'Can she?,' because she has just as much of a chance of doing so as the 3% who actually will. The question is: 'Will she?'

Will she do what is takes to increase her chances from 3% to an absolute certainty?

Let's move ahead a few decades (or years) and find that this girl--we'll call her Marla--is indeed financially independent. Here's the question to think about (it's not a trick question): Now that Marla's financially independent, what are the odds that she's financially independent?

100% of course--that's the statistical reality.

The question now is: What did Marla do to move from 3% probability to a 100% certainty?

(Please don't tell me she was 'lucky'.)

  1. Passion

You need a passion to do whatever it takes to attain your goals.

To help you to understand this point, think of a time in your life when you had enough of a consistent, passionate desire for something that you did whatever it took to get it. Perhaps it was an improvement in your view of the world. Maybe you wanted to get in shape. Maybe it was getting a prestigious scholarship.

That's what you need! Passion is the key ingredient here. Not just today, but tomorrow, next week...consistently! (In fact, let me give you an ABC of success: Always Be Consistent.)

  1. Willingness

If you truly have a passionate desire, willingness to do what it takes is not an issue at all, and is even obvious. It's still worth mentioning that you have to be willing to consistently do whatever it takes to reach your goals. (I said consistently, not just in January).

Conclusion

If you apply these 4 simple steps consistently, you'll see for yourself just how practical they are. Try these on a three-day goal, then, when you see the results, gradually apply them to your life. I have found, from my own life, that when I combine these 4 steps with consistent action, my chances of achieving my goal are dramatically increased. As a matter of fact, I took action on these 4 simple steps to create this article that I now hope you're benefiting from. The fact that you're reading this shows that these 4 steps, when acted upon, do work. Now go! Take action!
