Interference has become a massive issue with parents and their baby monitors these days, why? Simply because technology has increased in size and the people using them so when a baby monitor is close by to something that could cause interference, the monitor will always sound fuzzy or crackly.

  1. The location

The location your baby monitor is in plays a vital part in whether it will get interference or not. Say for example you place the monitor by a window in your baby’s bedroom, there may be something very close by which will prevent the monitor from producing a perfect signal at all times.

To resolve this problem simply try different locations and positions around the home and see which works best.

  1. Other baby monitors

If you live in a built up area where there are many other families living near by, it is more than likely one household other than yours will have a baby living in it. What this means is they are probably going to be using a baby monitor which could in fact interfere with your monitor and vice versa.

Try a different range or frequency if you start to receive interference from other baby monitors. This may not always work so you will have to test as many frequencies as you can.

  1. Cordless phones

Cordless phones can have a major effect on baby monitors, not from, crackling or poor sound quality but from you being able to hear conversations. If you happen to be at the right place and on the right setting you will be able to hear everything, which totally defeats the purpose of a monitor.

Once again you will need to try a different frequency or range when trying to filter out cordless telephone conversations.

  1. Consider using DECT technology

If you have ever come across DECT technology before you will know that it is the latest technology to hit the baby monitor market. DECT meaning Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications allows you to listen to your child without any interference so it is crystal clear at all times.

If you opt for DECT then you will notice a major difference in sound quality and clarity, not to mention 100% no interference guaranteed.

  1. Is digital safe?

Digital monitors are the safest monitors available and are fast becoming the number 1 choice in the UK; although some may be pricey you cannot put a price on your child’s safety.

The Philips and Tomy monitor range are currently the best designed and usable monitors which we would recommend over anything else.
