A research study indicates that out of 12.5 million Spam messages sent by spammers, only one or two get response. But still they make cashes.
Spammers, just to have lots of cash, make the online profile of users a trauma. They flood their boxes with Spam and unwanted messages. I wake of getting rid of these Spam messages, IT mangers of organization follow stringent rules which sometimes take a toll on very urgent messages of employees. To avoid Spam, IT managers blacklist certain words or format of mailed messages but if those words are by mistake used in the subject line of a mail by one of the employee’s urgent messages, then what? Employee will be blamed of not submitting urgent reports on time and missing deadlines. This is "do and Die" situation for IT Managers.
The article entails some of the tips that can help IT Managers to fight against Spam yet taking care of employee’s needs and their tendency of making subject lines:
To avoid Spam, stop unauthenticated relaying of messages from your server. If any one in this world can use your SMTP server, they will for sure use it for relaying of messages. So to avoid Spam, the best part is to close an open relay. Closing an open relay does not allow sending or receiving e-mails from an outsider.
Other things that you can do besides stopping unauthenticated relay of messages is to password protect your wireless access points. If you are not done with this security measure you will find yourself driven into a problem. You will be a victim for a drive by spammer. Any one will use your wireless access points for his personal interests. The latest instance is that of blasts in which a terrorist hacked the router of a user which put him into problem.
The third way to fight against Spam is not to respond to spam. Even replying or like sending requests for unsubscribe is also not recommended as it will only confirm your mailing list to spammers. Even it will confirm spammers that their messages are delivered to your inbox, not filtered by a spam filter.
The other way to avoid Spam is to keep your anti-virus software up to date. Many viruses and Trojans are programmed to scan the hard disk for e-mail addresses and then to circulate spam and viruses. Avoid spamming your colleagues by keeping your anti-virus software up to date.
The next thing that you can do to avoid Spam is not to give your professional mail address in any process of online registrations or any other procedure. You should use Outlook Express to avoid Spam messages in your inbox.
Anything can not be termed as perfect fit to get rid of spam, but yes you can try configuring your Anti-Spam filter to get the obvious results. A diverse range of mail filtering options exists, some of which can prove as tailor made options to help organizations fight against Spam.
With the intensity of problem and what type of Spam are you receiving, the configuration options vary and accordingly you can fight against Spam.
