Walt Disney said, … "There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate’s loot on Treasure Island … and best of all, you can enjoy these riches every day of your life."

Sometimes … in spite of all of our efforts … people just don’t learn.

Introducing Life Training.

After years of teaching, a teacher compiled the following answers from test exams:

The Magna Carta provided that no free man should be hanged twice for the same offense.

Martin Luther was nailed to the church door at Wittenberg for selling papal indulgences. He died a horrible death being excommunicated by a bull.

William Shakespeare wrote tragedies, comedies, and hysterectomies, all in Islamic Pentameter.

Sir Francis Drake circumcised the world with a 100-foot clipper.

Abraham Lincoln was born in a log cabin he built with his own hands. He wrote the Gettysburg address while traveling from Washington to Gettysburg on the back of an envelope."

People heard the right words but they obviously did not learn. It’s not too late to learn through Life Training.

It is a power principle to understand that learning does not stop when we finish school. We have to keep on educating ourselves. I believe that learning power is earning power.

I believe that Information and Knowledge go hand and hand.

I’ve heard it said that if you take all the money from your pockets … and use it to fill your mind … then what is in your mind would someday fill your pockets.

There are three basic types of knowledge. First, there is Acquired Knowledge.

The great and all wise leader Groucho Marx even said, … "I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book."

That’s what you get from books and tapes, etc.

I read the other day that the average person buys 2000 donuts in their lifetime … and two books.

The great Jim Rohn says, …"You need food for thought … Bread for your brains! Read … Educate yourself!"

Malcolm Forbes said that …"Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one."

Oprah said this…"Books were my pass to personal freedom. I learned to read at age three, and soon discovered there was a whole world to conquer that went beyond our farm in Mississippi."

Listen up … LEADERS ARE READERS!

Every time you leave the house you need to carry a book with you. While eating lunch … feed your mind. While waiting in line … feed your mind. Remember … A man who will not read is no better off than man who cannot read.

The second type of knowledge is Activity Knowledge.

Aristotle said that … "What we need to learn we learn by doing." Read …learn … then DO!

You see … knowledge is not power … "applied" knowledge is power. It’s been said the mind is like a rubber band … it’s no good till stretched. You stretch your mind when you force it to put into action all the information that you’ve put into it.

It’s amazing to me that you can send a message 24,000 miles around the world in less than a second. But it often takes years to penetrate that last 1/4-inch of skull surrounding people’s minds. This principle is so powerful and so simple that some people just don’t get it! Accomplishment ultimately depends on activity. You learn by doing through Life Training.

I could explain to you for weeks about how to ride a bicycle. I can show you countless graphs and illustrations about balance, wind flow and safety. But ten minutes on a bike and you’ll understand and learn more than all that I’ve spoken. Classroom knowledge is only beneficial if it translates into activity knowledge.

And then, there is Association Knowledge.

Learn the power of association. Take advice from people that make the money you want to make. Hang with winners not whiners. Hang with "studs not duds" or in the case of you ladies "Studdets not duddetts"!

It’s just like the great philosopher Erma Bombeck said … "Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died."

If he can’t save the plants why trust him with your life. If he’s a 499-pound, chain-smoking, boozer … do want him giving you medical advice? Of course, I’ve gone from the sublime to the ridiculous … but look … why do we go to people with no goals … no ambition … no dreams … and let them help us direct our lives?

You can’t sharpen a razor on a piece of velvet.
