I uploaded my profile picture to Showmypro. After I got my information filled out, I started exploring this new website.

I received a message from Robert welcoming me to the community. He had a picture of his kid. I figured that he’s likely the leader of Showmypro. I looked at numbers like the number of friends, profile views and favorites. Since he’s likely one of the heads of showmypro and his numbers are small, I figured that this website community isn’t that large. So the people at Showmypro are probably really tight-knit.

I immediately started looking at profiles. Each profile had its own background and design. Awesome, people can make their profile look how they want it to. Most of the people on Showmypro are from the UK, though they allow anyone to sign up including Americans like me.

There’s some conversations going on at Showmypro. Some of the profile pages are dead to convo, while others have the beginnings of real connectivity and interaction going on. There really aren’t a whole lot of people at Showmypro, with 304 signed up members total. This is really sad, since there will be a day when this website is exploding with members. Go to websites like Myspace and you will feel drowned out by millions just like you. Go to Showmypro and over time you will be able to meet everyone. At least that is possible in some space-time continuum loop.

I hope the people who make Showmypro great will stick around long enough to help it grow. A lot of times there’s a human desire to interact with as many people as possible. There’s a desire for attention and human connection that all networking websites appeal to. But there’s an even bigger desire to be well known and to simply be popular among large numbers of people. This, you simply will not get at Showmypro… yet. What you will get instead are a bunch of buddies who can really build some friendship and intimacy. You’ll get the sense of coolness that comes from knowing that you’re on the cutting edge of a new website that might revolutionize social networking. You will also know that you are not a clone of the million people jumping on the bandwagon at Myspace. Instead of becoming just another number in a million, become a number in a much smaller number.

So what are you waiting for? Head over to http://showmypro.com, sign up, create a profile, and get started.
