Sometimes, things go wrong in pregnancy and pregnancy complications crop up. Pregnancy symptoms like morning sickness, frequent urination, headaches, mood swings, tender breasts, and others are perfectly normal. But, what if these symptoms become intolerably high or you experience something more than these? It’s time to call your doctor.
Excessive Morning Sickness
If you’re throwing up continuously for 2 days, you may get dehydrated and require hospitalization. So, if you notice the sickness going out of hand, you must tell your doctor about it.
Vaginal Bleeding
Spotting or bleeding in the vagina in the first trimester is one of the alarming pregnancy signs. If bleeding is combined with mild cramps when your cervix is still sealed and uterus is expanded, it might indicate an abortion. At times, you may get severe cramps and heavy bleeding.
If you notice passing of tissue, your cervix has opened and uterus is expanded. This is a sign of miscarriage. If vaginal bleeding is combined with moderate or excess pain on one side only and you faint, it implies an ectopic pregnancy (pregnancy in the fallopian tube).
If you get vaginal bleeding, which is variable and dysfunctional, and your uterus is not expanded and cervix is sealed, you might be suffering from hormonal imbalance.
Toxemia Or Pre-Eclampsia
It’s time to call the doctor, if your headaches are persistent; you gain unreasonable weight; there’s fluid retention in your body; your vision gets blurred and you observe spots before your eyes. This is toxemia or pre-eclampsia. In layman terms, it’s high blood pressure during pregnancy. Sudden swelling of feet, ankles, and hands is also the sign. This is one of the pregnancy complications where you need to be hospitalized. If overlooked it may lead to incomplete fetal growth, fetal distress during labor, or premature labor.
Urinary Tract Infection
If you get a burning sensation or discomfort during urination, or a dull pain in your lower abdomen after urination, you might be suffering from UTI. Consult your doctor fast for treatment.
Premature Labor
If you have fever and chills without any signs of cold or flu, you should sit up and take notice. A high fever can lead to premature labor. Besides, a sudden rush down of vaginal fluid in the third trimester indicates that your membranes have ruptured prematurely. This causes the development of amnionitis, which is an infection and one of the dangerous pregnancy complications for the fetus. Its signs are fever, abdominal pain, and foul-smelling discharge.
Constant Pain In Abdomen
If you get continuous or sudden intense abdominal pain in the early stages of pregnancy, it may indicate a miscarriage. If the pains happen in the later stages of pregnancy, it can imply premature labor.
No Fetal Movement
If you observe a decrease in the kicks of your baby, call your doctor at once. This may be a sign of fetal distress.
There are many pregnancy complications that can mar the joy of pregnancy. But, if you’re a careful observer of your pregnancy process and report any abnormal condition at once to your doctor, you can save the joy of your pregnancy.
Problems can arise in pregnancy, but if you are a smart mother you can ignore all these pregnancy complications, by keeping a close watch on your fitness and eating habits. Visit pregnancyinfo911.com for more information.
