Self Esteem is a powerful force with in each of us.
Self Esteem is the Confidence in our ability to think and to fight
with the basic challenges of life.
Self Esteem is the experience that we require in life.
Like above there are many definitions of Self Esteem, but Self Esteem is your opinion of yourself. High self esteem is a good opinion of
yourself and low self esteem is a bad opinion of yourself.
Everyone has expectations that how well they should perform and then the problems occurs when the expectations become too high and unrealistic. For example a person tries to compare his or her looks and talent with a famous star, it being unrealistic and ends up having lowered esteem.
So it should be better to compare with rest of the people and your past performance. Positive self esteem projects and expresses your love of self and therefore allows you to express that love to others. Feeling good about yourself is the basis of your act, your thinking, your speech, your posture, your whole attitude to face the challenges of the world around you and to make positive decisions which will be beneficial for you in the future.
Building your confidence is the single most important part of your well-being. You are the one who has to set and follow your goals. You are the one who has ability to feel confident and to boost your self-esteem to the highest level possible.
A negative self image creates massive stress in your life because you are always in doubt, never feeling like you fit in and never thinking you are good enough. Having a good opinion of yourself and liking yourself is your self-esteem and makes life happier.
Unrealistic expectations and comparisons can lower your esteem. Compare yourself with the masses and with your past performance to increase your self-esteem.
Note: Start learning how to assert yourself in every situation. That doesn't mean replacing passiveness with aggressiveness as a solution to your esteem problem. That approach won’t help and it tends to alienate people and sets them on the defensive. You don't need a hostile or non-receptive audience to the changes you are making. Assertiveness is about maintaining your boundaries, values and integrity in the face of challenge and speaking your truth quietly, yet forcefully, when necessary.
