How important is that one definite burning desire… that one obsession, so to speak? Just that it’s the tuning fork by which you measure every single tone. That’s the thing that lets you know if you’re on target or off target.

It’s the overarching "definite chief aim" of your life, your company, or your project. What are they going to say about you when they write your obituary? What did you accomplish?

For instance, if a person’s "definite chief aim" in life is to affect people positively by being a metaphysical author and speaker, you’re probably not going to find this person taking a job as a technical writer for Sony Corporation writing user manuals. Understand, they know when they’re on target or not because they have a tuning fork to measure everything by.

On the other hand, you might find this person involved in a film, in a radio show and writing three books and they’re a little bit slammed and they’re a little bit behind schedule on a few different things at the same time. …But they’re NOT off focus.

When someone knows what their "definite chief aim" in life is, that thing they were born to achieve, that thing they’ve got to do, that’s their solemn oath that they have made with the universe and they’ll pay if they don’t do that, then they stride and glide toward their goal. Their passage and the efforts they involve them self in can be measured for relative worth by the sounding of the tone by which every other tone is evaluated in its proper place.

Even when they’re off, when they’re out boating, for instance, they’re thinking about their definite chief aim. It consumes them. They’re making, they’re taking positive steps. This passionate person will leave a legacy.

Do you see how this kind of creating is not the same thing as having a job and working for someone else (and using vacation as an escape, which you need if you’re jobbing it)? When you’re creating your own life by design, you ask different questions. You don’t ask how you can perform adequately well so that you don’t lose your job… You ask, "How can I contribute? You’re well aware its "sow and you shall reap". You can’t receive money without contributing. You’ve search to find ways to leverage that, as Tony Robbins says, "contribute massively". And when you do, it comes back to you.

Your one definite chief aim is the tuning fork by which you celebrate and measure every other activity, effort, or plan in your life, that thing that instantly advises you when you’re on target or when you’re not… With your one definite chief aim etched in your consciousness with the power of lightning in the sky, you truly create your life by design.
