If it is your first time to come to Kampala, I know you will be confused on where to go for shopping. On this article I will guide you on different places on where to go for your shopping.
Gone are the days when Kampala lacked essential item for sale but today it’s booming with any item you have eve thought of. From home use items to automobiles, Kampala is a paradise to shoppers in east and central Africa, as a visit in Uganda you will never lack goods and services of your choice.
Call them shopping malls, street markets vendors, supermarkets, whatever you call them, Kampala remains the hub of business in Uganda.
Do you want Africa traditional handcrafts? Kampala has it all. With the prevalence of security, there is no worry to fear to go in congested places. And remember the best way to haggle the price is to mix yourself with the natives.
Don’t be misled about the people of Uganda; they are the friendliest people I have ever met,
Garden city shopping centre
This is a newly opened shopping centre in Kampala. In the eastern part of the city centre and can be reached with easy whether using the public transport or your personal vehicle. Parking is more than enough and security is guaranteed as the place is under 24 hours surveillance by both police and private security firms.
Mukwano shopping centre or arcade
This is situated in the middle of the city centre near to the main taxi park. Although parking is available, the traffic jam in the city center is enough to make it unfriendly especially if you are not used to congestion and traffic jam
But other than the jam, this arcade is one the best places to shop from
St.Barikuddembe / Owino Market
This is one of the oldest markets in Kampala. It is not far from the city centre. It is the best place you can go for fresh food, second hand items of every type, Ugandan art and crafts and many other items.
In conclusion therefore, don’t hesitate to ask any Ugandan you meet to show you where you want to go especially when going for shopping around Kampala City in Uganda
