Procrastination…it's a real killer. It may very well be one of the most paralyzing problems that people have when it comes to doing anything. But why do people suffer from it and what can be done about it? If you're suffering from procrastination, this article may be your ticket to finally overcoming it and getting the things done that need to be done. Keep reading to find out more.

Let's begin with the reasons why people procrastinate. There are many reasons, not just one. But probably the biggest reason is fear. Not just fear of failure but fear of success as well. Think people aren't afraid of succeeding? Think again. For some, the thought of a drastic life style change, such as going from being poor to incredibly wealthy, is frightening to say the least. They can't even imagine not living in their studio apartment with just enough room for a bed. Therefore, this fear is what keeps people from going through with their projects, or whatever it is they want to do.

Okay, great…how do we overcome this fear? Ah, if it was that simple we'd have a magic pill to take. And unfortunately, some people DO turn to drugs, which are not the answer. The high is temporary, wears off quickly and then when they DO come down, they're more afraid than ever. It's just one vicious cycle that never ends. Drugs are not the answer.

The answer is a change of mindset, and unfortunately, there is no magic pill for that. A person has to sit down and force himself to work through the fear. One great way of doing this is by asking yourself this question. What is the worst thing that could happen if I do this? By envisioning the worst case scenario, you realize that in many cases, the worst isn't really all that bad. No, I won't lie…in some cases, the worst can be pretty awful, such as when somebody procrastinates getting on that plane for the first time. Yes, the plane may very well crash killing everybody on board. But how many plane crashes do you read about on a daily basis? They are nowhere near as common as most people think.
