As Salt Lake City continues to bask in the glow of the 2002 Winter Olympics, "the city has grown and developed into a popular tourist and ski destination as well as a great place to live, learn, and do business," according to @Home Realty Network.
Though the county is still considered small by comparison to other counties in the United States, Salt Lake City and the surrounding area is experiencing strong population growth which is dramatically stimulating the housing market. This growth offers a diverse selection of residential options including downtown, urban, suburban and semi-rural neighbourhoods. There just seems to be something for everyone. Housing styles run the gamut from century-old classic restorations to brand new homes with all the trimmings and style of the 21st century.
The Main Street of Salt Lake City carries with it much national history and beauty. Recently the government has invested in the restoration of Main Street to maintain the beauty and uniqueness of the architecture found here. Main Street is the cultural centre for the state. Concerts and other special events occur here annually.
Small but mighty, this area is home to several large shopping malls, five major and minor league sports teams, 28 area golf course, 13 ski resorts, 6 arenas, 8 hospitals, and many music, dance & theatre venues. Salt Lake City's Newcomers Club even has a hot line. Parents will be encouraged to know that this area has both public and private schools that have been nationally ranked.
If you enjoy skiing, snowboarding, or winter hiking, then a Utah winter is just right for you. This region enjoys an average of 500" of light powdery snow annually. Some of the best skiing you will ever experience is right here. And glorious summers offer whitewater rafting down Cataract Canyon, mountain biking at Slickrock, hiking, and sail boarding. Visit the Old West to tour an outlaw hideout, or savour the view of breathtaking sunsets, all within a day's drive of the city. Continue your outdoor experience throughout the seasons, watching wildlife and exploring canyons as you investigate the eleven national parks that will provide countless hours of outdoor recreation for rugged individualists or families.
Lying on a plateau more that 4,000 feet above sea level, the state of Utah is unique in its landscape with shapes, shades of colour, mountains, plateaus and buttes. The geology alone speaks to the amazing variety this state has to offer, a little something for everyone!
