Most of them work by trying to stop hair loss from getting worse. Propecia and Rogaine are the only two FDA approved hair loss treatments. Propecia is for men only, while rogaine is for both men and women. Propecia (Finasteride) works by inhibiting the action of type II alpha 5 reductase, thereby preventing the conversion of testosterone to dihyrotestosterone (DHT). Propecia is a prescription treatment and should not be taken by children and women. Rogaine is also FDA approved for stimulate regrowth. Both the drugs may take few months to show their effect. Propecia generally takes 3 – 6 months. If you stop taking propecia, it is likely that you will lose the hair gained through Propecia treatment.
• Hair transplant
Hair transplant involves manual implimentation of hair on scalp. Small skin graft are fixed on the scalf, this way natural hair grow up. Hair transplant surgery are quite expensive but quite promising option.
• Hair replacement surgery
This involves fixing of synthetic or animal hair periodically. Even hair replacement surgery is quite expensive and requires constant maintenance.
