A business proposal plays a crucial role in the success of a company. In order to be successful a business needs to get more business. For this they need to get more contracts by beating the competition. The prospective client forms an opinion about you and your services by going through your proposal. A good proposal is one that convinces the potential client to choose your products and services over your competitors. It, therefore, becomes very important to draft a proposal that is professional and enticing, all while positioning your candidature in front of the reader in the strongest manner. Although, business proposals come in many formats, there are certain points that are common to proposal development – an understanding of these will go a long way in helping you make proposals fast.
Write Concisely: The need of writing a concise proposal arises from the fact that the reader probably has many other proposals to go through meaning he is time constrained. And in such a case if he goes through a proposal that goes on for pages but has little service-related content, he will toss the proposal in a trash bin. What readers want are proposals that express the most in the least words.
Point out your uniqueness: What is your USP? What distinguishes you from the competition? Cost, Quality, ability to meet deadlines, or extraordinary customer service? Whatever it is, make sure that the proposal brings out that USP in the most powerful way. Convince the customer that this difference is something that he cannot miss at any cost.
Use Graphics and pictures as much as you can: Pictures, as they say have the power of thousand words. Strategically placed pictures can not only take the monotony out of the business proposal, but can also persuade a reader to choose you.
