After searching all about frontline for a while I am not surprised how many people are looking to see whether or not frontline is safe. Like me, people seem to be worried about just how safe and effective these kinds of treatments really are.

There is always a worry when we add chemicals to our pets bodies. For many of us it simply seems dangerous or wrong. After doing extensive research I really could find literally no evidence to suggest that applying these type of treatments is dangerous for animals. All it takes are a few simple precautions. Whenever we handle anything chemical based we should take care. Frontline is not dangerous if used correctly. This simply means ensuring it does not come in to contact with our skin if possible, if it does wash your hands immediately.

More important than this is ensuring that it gets no where near your eyes or your pets. Common sense but very important. When applying to dogs you should be careful to have a strong hold on them so there is no chance of them shaking and a drop hitting your eyes. Keep a very tight hold on the dog to prevent this.

You should also, as with all chemicals, ensure it is well out of the reach of any children. Apply it in the prescribed manner exactly as directed and it will work very effectively. I really could find no evidence of it being dangerous when used safely and correctly. The worst I found that could happen is that your pet may get a small rash around where it is applied. If this happens keep an eye on it for a day or so and if it persists then call your vet.

It is very unlikely however, it should work fine with no side effects. Bear in mind that for it to work at its most effective it must be applied as prescribed. Never repeat doses to regularly. For dogs this means never more than once a month. It may be dangerous to use it more often than this. It is always effective for at least a month anyway so there is never a need to do this.

With a few simple precautions, frontline flea and tick treatment is safe and very effective at ensuring your animal stays parasite free. It will also very effectively kill anything that is already on your pet. Just ensure you follow the directions for use very carefully.
