If your boss is consistently giving you dirty looks, then you might have a problem and you have to solve it first so that you won’t get fired. The first task to consider is how to create a positive rapport; and it would definitely take more than just a polite smile. By first finding out what your boss really expects from you is the most common way to establish a close and positive rapport with him. If you come to realize and understand these expectations from your boss, then there is a better chance that you could meet and comply with those through a more focused effort.

There are many employees out there that are either plain clumsy or slow to grasp or learn. And if you are the kind of individual that is not good enough or competent at any work you are in, well then you are not alone. Moreover, if you fit those descriptions given above, fret not, because there is still hope. If your manager is still not satisfied with your performance and is still constantly giving you a dirty look, try to explain to him how hard for you to accomplish the tasks, and you can ask for a time with your manager where the two of you could be alone for a moment.

And if you have to, tell him that you are even willing to accept a cut in your pay just to keep the job. By doing this, some bosses would truly appreciate your concern and consideration for his needs and would make necessary and proper adjustments. The role of a boss is a mechanical one and a well run concern has parts like a clock; its parts are its employees and its boss. The best and most effective way to get along with your manager is trying to perform on your work well and be in sync with all those parts of the company.

However, establishing a positive rapport with one’s boss when you’re not doing your work at all is a total waste of effort. Well, unless the boss is romantically attracted to you, it is very necessary to do your job and perform accordingly. If you won’t—you better be on the look out for a new job. So just do your job, and do it well and hopefully, you would see those dirty looks on the bosses’ face may gradually transform into a smile. Still, again bear in mind that the needs of your manager could still vary as the business climate does, and the once-good rapport you developed with your manager may have to be reestablished.

It is again that you have to really discover what the expectations on you as an employee are and if you could meet those new expectations, well you can keep your job. Consequently, never try holding on to a work that is beyond your capacities, doing so would not only make you discontented, but also your supervisors. Find a job that you can take so you would be smiling again and so will the boss.
