A dog is part of the family. The President of the United States would adopt or bring their dog to the White House to live. Here are the names and breeds from the President Barrack Obama to President Lyndon B Johnson.

President Barrack Obama, who is currently the 44th President, owns a Portuguese Water Dog. It was a gift from the Kennedy Family. His name is Bo. The name means handsome in French. Bo has thick black curly fur except the two front paws. It is white. Bo looks like it is wearing a white boots. Although the breed has thick fur, the breed is considered hypoallergenic. The paws are naturally web feet. The breed is meant for swimming. The breed tremendously helps the Portuguese fishermen.

President George W. Bush, who served as the 43rd president from 2001 to 2009, owns Barney and Spot Fletcher. Barney is a Scottish Terrier, whereas Spot Fletcher is an English Springer Spaniel. Barney is variation of Barnabas which means son of comfort. Spot Fletcher is from Scott Fletcher. He was a former baseball player of the Texas Rangers. Spot Fletcher is the full name, but he is often called as Spotty. It is shorter.

President Bill Clinton, who served as the 42nd president from 1993 to 2001, used to own the first dog namely Buddy. He was a male Labrador Retriever with short chocolate-colored fur. Buddy is a good dog name meaning close or good friend. Actually, Bill got the name from name of his uncle. Unfortunately, Buddy was killed in a car accident. While Buddy was running on the road, a car hit Buddy.

President George H W Bush, who served as the 41st president from 1989 to 1993, owned the first dogs namely Millie and Ranger. Millie is a Springer Spaniel. Later, Millie gave birth to Ranger. Millie and Ranger are French dog names. Millie means industrious, while Ranger means guardian of forest.

President Ronald Reagan, who served as the 40th president from 1981 to 1989, owned the first dogs namely Rex and Lucky. Rex is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, while Lucky is a Bouvier des Flandres. Lucky would drag the president as the president takes Lucky for a walk.

President Gerald Ford, who served as the 39th president from 1974 to 1977, owned the first dog namely Liberty. It is a Golden Retriever. Liberty is a name which means freedom. Remarkably, Liberty gave birth to a total of nine puppies in the White House.

President Richard Nixon, who served as the 37th president from 1969 to 1974, owned the first dogs namely Checkers (Cocker Spaniel) and King Timahoe (Irish Setter). His children named the dog as Checkers, because Checkers had a black and white fur like the black and white board game. King Timahoe was a gift from his member staff. The President got the name from the name of Irish Village where his ancestors used to live.

President Lyndon B Johnson, who served as the 36th president from 1963 to 1969, owned the first dogs namely Yuki, Beagle, Little Beagle, Him, Her, J Edgar, and Blanco. Five of the first dogs are from Beagle breed namely Beagle, Little Beagle, Him, Her, and J Edgar. Yuki is a Mongrel, while Blanco is a Collie. Yuki is a Japanese dog name which means blessing or snow. Since Blanco is a white Collie, the President names the Collie as Blanco.

A dog is naturally friendly, loyal, useful, warm, and playful. As a result, the dog becomes a sign of friendship. Often, the ruler of other country gives the dog as a sign of friendship. Dogs are also a big part of our life and family. Taking the dog to White House, the First Family completes the family.
