Strep throat is very contagious and the bacteria responsible for causing the illness can be easily transmitted from a person to another by direct touch, sneezing or coughing. In order to prevent infection with streptococcus bacteria, it is very important to maintain proper personal hygiene and to avoid entering in contact with infected people. The persons affected by strep throat should also take measures in avoiding spreading the bacteria to others.
The treatment for strep throat is usually antibiotics because they can quickly kill the viruses responsible for the infection, but there other cures for this illness that are natural and that can also cure the infection. Natural cures are preferred by many people because they are healthy and they can do other beneficial thing for the body, like healing other damaged tissues and improving the defense system. Here are some simple home remedies help fighting strep throat without taking antibiotics. You should also ask your doctor for an advice because sometimes the infection is too advanced and only antibiotics can cure it in short time before it gets worse.
Honey makes a good natural sore throat treatment because it provides a nice coat to your throat. You can try something called a ginger cocktail which is honey, lime, and ginger juice. Drink this a few times a day and say so long to your problem. Apple cider vinegar is used in a variety of ways but did you know it can help ease your aching throat? Well is can if you mix a couple table spoons of it in water and gargle it.
Mix one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with one teaspoon of honey (preferably Manuka honey) in 1/3 cup of hot water. Sip slowly as required.
One of the best known natural health remedies for sore throat is gargling. Gargling with a mild mixture of salt or 4-6 drops of grapefruit seed extract and warm water, sage or raspberry leaf tea or other herbal teas, several times a day, will ease sore throat pain, reduce the inflammation and hydrate dry tissues.
A sore throat is a symptom of many illness but the major cause of sore throat is infection. These infections can be caused by viruses like the flu and common cold or by certain types of bacteria such as strep, mycoplasma, or hemophilus that cause the inflammation.
There are a few techniques and natural sore throat remedies you can try which include a warm compress on your throat, inhaling steam from hot water in the sink, and gargling salt water. I think the steam inhalations are my favorite because not only do they help cure this particular problem but they are very relaxing, you have your own personal mini sauna for yourself. A very common remedy is drinking plenty of fluids such as tea. The tea market has a huge selection that will help you cure your sore throat and they taste delicious also.
