Hair is formed in minute pockets in the skin known as follicles. Hair is made up of keratin, a type of protein. Hair entanglement is a major issue for women with long hair these days and most of us feel like fighting a losing battle when it comes to de-tangling our hair from each other. Dry hair looks dull and is often difficult to control after shampooing. Dry hair needs lot of care and nourishment.

If you don't have any allergic reactions to ingredients that can be found at home, you may wish to try out some home remedies before hitting the shelves at retail stores.

  1. Before you wash your hair, apply uncooked egg yolk on to your scalp and massage gently. Keep massaging for about 45 minutes to an hour. You will start to feel more relaxed as the tension releases under your soothing hands. Do this for 2 to 3 times each week before your hair wash.

  2. After the scalp has been thoroughly and vigorously massaged, rinse the hair with cold water and then comb your hair. A cold douche of the hair is always helpful if done regularly. The best way to do it is to immerse your head in a flat-bottomed vessel for a minute. The hair should be combed with the fingers and dried through massage.

  3. Greasy or oily hair will benefit from a rinse made with lemon balm, rosemary, lavender or mint. All these herbs will calm the scalp and reduce the sebum production. Learn more about natural remedy or shampoo for oily hair.

  4. Iron is one of the other most important parts of the body. Iron deficiency can cause anemia and hair loss. Good sources of iron are red meat, clams, dried fruit, cream of wheat and broccoli. These will keep you diet well balanced is key to growth of your hair.

  5. Take several limes and rub over the whole scalp. Follow up with egg white. Then wrap your hair in a clean towel overnight. The next day, wash your hair with lukewarm water, and rinse with cold water. Try this at least twice a week.

  6. Include fibers in your food, and drink more than 10 liters of water every day, to regularize bowel movements. Accumulation of debris like undigested food particles are not eliminated from your system created toxins that further aggravate hair loss.

  7. For graying of hairs, add black sesame and eclipta alba in equal quantity, chew one teaspoonful of this mixture in the morning on an empty stomach and drink fresh water over it. Take daily for six months. It is successful for all persons up to 40.

  8. Take two cups of thick santan, two stalks of aloe vera, five pandanus leaves and one egg yolk. Grind the pandanus leaves with the aloe vera and collect the liquid. Add egg-yolk to the liquid and stir till well mixed. Coat this mixture on your hair with a gentle massaging motion for about five minutes.
