Women love perfume without a doubt. And to satisfy that love thousands of different perfumes and fragrances have been invented and marketed over the past decades. You woman of all ages constantly checking out new fragrances at cosmetic counters across the country. But women often times wonder why a fragrance seems to smell a bit differently on them than it does on their friend? Or why does a longtime favorite seemed to have a different scent on their skin suddenly? Follow along as we attempt to give you some answers to those questions.
The first thing you have to understand is how to take care of her perfume once you get it home. Since fragrances are very delicate and their chemical composition, it is imperative that you keep your bottles of perfume in a dark, cool environment to preserve the scent. Strong sunlight or extreme changes in temperature can actually affect a perfume enough to affect its scent. And so, what seems so right at the cosmetic counter suddenly doesn't seem so right a week or so later.
Next, you have to understand that each individual's skin is unique in the natural oils and acids that they have. Your skin and its oils and acids will be different from your friend, your mother or your daughter. How the perfume interacts on each persons skin will be different. And so, the perfume that smells just right on your best friend, may not seem so right on you. There isn't always such a large difference that you may notice an enough to reject the perfume, but the differences will definitely be there. But make sure that you give yourself at least 10 minutes with the new perfume on your pulse points before you make a decision. And don't try more than two or three at a time. Checking other perfume to quickly or with too many cross scents may not give you an accurate result. Take your time to find a good perfume.
Sometimes women also find that a perfume that seemed to work well for them at one point has started to smell differently after a period of time. You need to realize that there are other body chemistry factors that can come in to play that can actually change how a perfume reacts on your skin. Diet, for example, can play a large role in the differences you detect in a fragrance you wear. Eating too much garlic or too many onions can create a problem for people who have a tendency to have these foods come through their pores. Having onion or garlic mix with your perfume can definitely change the smell. A diet that is high in fat, or a spicy diet, can actually increase the intensity of a perfume due to the change in body chemistry that shows up in the essential oils of your skin that mixes with the perfume. A return to a previous diet may return your previous favorite scent.
Their other things that can create a change in hormones in your body. Puberty for young women, pregnancy or menopause can have a great deal of influence on your skin and the oils and acids. Health problems like diabetes can be another added factor to a change in our fragrance reacts to your skin. Diabetics often undergo a wide swing in the blood sugars levels in their bodies and that can greatly affect a scents reaction. Changes, however, don't have to be that great to make a change in the smell of your fragrance. Simply having drier skin than you normally do can cause a change. This will be due to the fact their skin will absorb more of the essential oils within the fragrance leaving behind the changed compound and the change in the scent.
There is really nothing to be worried about healthwise in any of these cases, but it's good to know why your favorite perfume doesn't seem to smell the same as it once did. Or why a certain fragrance that everyone else enjoys doesn't seem to work on you. Each and every one of us is a unique individual, with differences in the natural oils and acid composition that we have on our skin. Body chemistry and health may also play an integral role in how a particular perfume reacts on a woman's body. Just take your time. Find a fragrance that works for you and you will have a unique scent that is all your own.
