Australia is somewhere I’ve wanted to go for many years, I have heard many friends talk about the amazing experiences they have had there on backpacking trips, short holidays and work placements.
If you are going for a holiday then I’m sure you are aware of the different seasons to take into consideration. While we have our slight warmth here in the UK Australia is having its off season, its winter which takes place during June to August. However if you are a keen skier or snowboarder then have a look at Victoria or New South Wales to enjoy the snow.
The peak season is while the UK has their heating on and is drinking hot chocolate so that is December until February. The weather can get very hot so it great for some and for going to the beach however if you want to go slight off season then have a look at the Spring which is September to November or the early Autumn which starts in May and will end around May.
Deciding on where exactly to go it can be difficult as there are many amazing attractions and as the country is huge you will have to choose wisely. You could opt to hire a car since public transport is poor in Australia or there are also companies that will allow you to hire second hand cars cheaply but can have mileage limits but will let you see a bit more.
Queensland is where the Great Barrier Reef is situated with the bonus of having around 300 days of sunshine a year. Brisbane offers a world class level of culture and is the definitive art capital of Queensland and home to a bustling nightlife, cafes, shops, amazing cuisine and sporting events.
There is also Sydney where you can visit the world famous Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. While Sydney is the oldest city it offers a host of theatres, cool clubs and bars and breathtaking seafront.
Then there is Perth which offers great beaches only a short distance away from the city centre’s huge skyscrapers. Rottnest Island offers snorkelling and diving, fishing, hiking and golfing. Perth can also boast about being the sunniest state in Australia. There are many great locations to visit and at the moment many cheap flights to Australia, you can’t go wrong wherever you visit.
