Dairy milk is an important food source for many people. It provides a lot of nutrients that the body needs in order to stay healthy. But there are also some people who might not be able to enjoy the benefits of dairy milk and all the other dairy products because they are either allergic to it or are lactose intolerant. Since dairy milk contains lactose as well as some proteins that cause allergic reactions to some, using it as a nutrient source may not be a preferred choice for some people. But there are other milk alternatives available that would do for some people.
Lactose Free Milk
For those who are lactose intolerant and still would like to consume dairy products, there are alternative lactose free dairy products available. This type of alternative is only good for those people who are lactose intolerant. It may still contain certain proteins that still may cause allergies in some people.
Soy Milk
Soy milk is considered today as the most widely available milk alternative in the market. It is also high in protein and is a very good alternative for dairy milk especially in cooking and in baking. For those who wish to use it as an alternative, make sure that you like it since it can also have a strong and distinctive taste to it.
Nut Based Milk
Nut milk is also considered as a good alternative to dairy. Almond milk is one of the most common of such alternative milks around. They blend well to baked foods. Nut milks are also known to be a good source of healthy fats as well as Vitamin E. Just like soy milk, they also contain certain proteins that may cause allergies in some people. Those who wish to use nut milk as an alternative should be aware and make sure that they aren't allergic to it.
Rice Milk
Rice milk is a good alternative for those people who are allergic to ordinary dairy milk. Rice milk do not contain most of the proteins found in ordinary dairy milk and is considered by most families as a good alternative for children allergic to milk to drink. They are not as creamy and may not be as nutritious unless they are heavily fortified. They are also not well suited for use in baking. But rice milk do has a very pleasant taste that most children would love and would be ideal as a good alternative milk beverage.
Oat Milk
Oat milk contains more proteins than rice milk, making it more suitable as a nutritional alternative to dairy milk. It has a mild and nutty taste and is a suitable match for cereals. Oat milk is not suitable for baking and cooking. Those who are sensitive to avenin protein should not consider oat milk as an alternative.
