The Caribbean islands are everything that postcards present them to be and much more. Do not limit yourself to just the picturesque white beaches and majestic blue skies – to experience the true colors of the Caribbean, you should visit its side streets, too. Here is a rundown of interesting things to do on your trip.
Caribbean hotels and resorts are usually fully booked during peak season, so it is advisable to take care of your accommodations at least three months in advance. If you want more privacy, visit the less popular islands that offer the same first-rate accommodations. It’s not a good idea to visit the Caribbean from April to December, though, as these are hurricane months. If you still want to go during this period, always check for weather updates.
Don’t limit yourself to the beaches – if you have time to spend, you should also include a tour of the Caribbean rainforests and the interesting key cities in your trip. Some ideas: If you find yourself in the Dominican Republic, don’t miss the grand waterfalls, the majestic volcanic zeniths and boiling lakes, and, of course, their world-famous forest preserves!
The independent island nation of Barbados boasts one of the highest standards of living in the developing world. It is a place with many great resorts and tourist attractions, such as the unique Atlantis Submarine diving trip. There are also snorkeling expeditions that feature visits to shipwrecks and swimming with turtles. If you really love turtles, you can see more at the Barbados Wildlife Reserve, where you will see many large specimens, as well as many other types of animal and plant life.
The Caribbean is a perfect place to take time out and relax. The geography and climate in the Caribbean region varies from one place to another, giving the vacationer a variety of destination choices. The climate of the region mainly ranges between sub-tropical to tropical and depends a great deal upon location in proximity to the tradewinds from the Atlantic. Some islands in the region have relatively flat terrain of non-volcanic origin. Such islands include Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, the Cayman Islands or Anguilla. Others possess rugged towering mountain-ranges like the islands of the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Jamaica, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Saba, Saint Kitts, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Trinidad.
Diving in the Caribbean is a unique experience. Boasting with beautiful beaches and a rich marine life, Caribbean diving offers guests the wonders of nature and luxurious accommodations. The islands' exotic beauty draws divers from the all over the world. From simple equipment to the most sophisticated diving gear, diving resorts in the Caribbean cater to its guests' needs. The seas of the region are perfect for any kind of diver: whether experienced or a beginner, Caribbean diving is a wonderful experience.
Many cruise lines stop in the Bahamas for a few days. The Caribbean islands are popular stops for many cruise ships and passengers often enjoy a day or two exploring The Bahamas before setting sail again. Taking a passenger ship to the islands is also a good way to get to there by sea.
