The average person shops at their local supermarket at least once a week to replenish a multitude of household edibles. They find themselves fighting both time and traffic trying to get in and get out of these stores before being overcome by the hundreds of others attempting to do the same thing. Adding to the frustration of the laborious task is finding out that your favorite/hard-to-get food is out of stock, or even worse, not available. People are beginning to look for alternatives resulting from their fruitless efforts shopping out and about. The answer according to a growing number of happy consumers is the internet. Why go out and fight for higher prices, products you have to settle for, and stand in lines a mile long only to get home and realize you forgot something?
Until recently online food sales have been fairly stagnant compared to other major players such as the electronic and retail markets, but time is beginning to tell and change seems to be on the horizon. Online business are forming and beginning to concentrate on certain voids in the food industry. Convenience and accessibility happen to be a huge missing link and has proven to be elusive until recently. Online stores such as 2muchfood.com removes the leg work and time constraints of physically leaving ones home to shop, all the while increasing selection options that would not be available in ones local supermarket. The convenience of purchasing an item online that is shipped to your door within two days is quickly becoming the Holy Grail of foraging.
One of the fastest growing corners of this market is exotic food sales. The daunting task of searching for the “hard-to-find” is now so easy. Persons with eclectic palates and/or a need for something different haven’t had many options finding their cache until now. Gourmet foods such as ostrich, alligator, wild boar, kangaroo, and buffalo are just a click away. The need to plead with your supermarket manager is over. Online shopping is so easy that the weekly disaster at the supermarket is quickly becoming a thing of the past.
