Love the writing word? Does the idea of writing online sound appealing? Consider these vital things before you get going.
First off, unless you have some money to fall back on while waiting to get paid for your publications, do not quit your day job. . There is a lot of money to make with online writing, nonetheless unless you have patience and a good work ethic, it will be hard to wait for all that money. Several people think that they can do it, nonetheless a great percent of them gives up and realizes that writing was indeed not for them.
Secondly, if you really want to write, but have been held back because of lack of talent or fear, now is the time to get past those barriers and start. The reason several people don’t start writing is because they are afraid that they will put time and energy into something that they are not good at. The best way to see if you have a writing talent is simply to start writing. Don’t come to conclusions too soon, because the more you write, the better you’ll become. Don’t expect to be perfect, especially if you don’t have much experience in writing. Keep writing and after a couple of months or even weeks you will be able to tell whether online writing is for you or not.
Some people are born writers, but several people are trained to be. Even if you realize that you don’t have too much talent for writing, you can still be successful if you are willing to train yourself to become one. If you love writing, it will be a fun journey and well worth it.
Thirdly, if you were an excellent student and got straight A’s on all of your college papers, it doesn’t mean that you will have a brilliant online writing career ahead of you. Academic writing is quite unique than writing in general. You may have to ignore all the writing rules which you learned in English 101, such as always using complete sentences or never starting your sentences with "and" or "yet". Some people have a extremely hard time switching from academic writing to conversational writing and they stubbornly stick to what they were taught in school. Sorry to say, such writing often comes out dry, which turns most online readers off.
Fourthly, determine what your main motivation for writing is. If all you care about is money, chances are good that you will not have many readers and therefore, will not succeed. It is pretty uncomplicated to tell when people write without passion about subjects they do not care about. However if you want to write because you love it and because you want to share your knowledge, your interests or your enthusiasm with others, you will probably be really good at it; even if the highest grade you got on your school papers was a C+. It never hurts (too badly) to have someone else edit your work.
Finally, if you want to have a flourishing writing career, you need to learn to take risks and be prepared to make mistakes. You need to find how to be flexible and how to move on if something doesn’t work out. You may have to try writing on unique subjects, or writing in various styles. You may have to adapt unique writing rules and write for unique customers. Mistakes and failures are inevitable, so don’t be too hard on yourself if you fail. There are several ways of earning money writing and if one turns out to be difficult and frustrating, you can always try the other one.
