Even though the Coast To Coast walk is not the official walking trails of Britain, it happens to be one of the most popular walking holidays that people prefer to take when they are on a holiday in the country.
It is found in the Northern side of England, This Coast to Coast walk starts from St. Bees on the Cumbria’s Western Coast and stretches across the entire country onto the Robin Hood’s Bay on the Northern side of England or the North Yorkshire eastern coast.
It is found to be called as Wainwright’s Coast to Coast walk by some people. There are some other people who even call it the Wainwright’s Way. This name came from the well known travel writer, Alfred Wainwright. He was the one who defined and described this Walking Way. The Coast To Coast walk stretches across three different national parks. The Lake District national Park, The Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park.
It is known to be the most beautiful scenery for any Britain’s self guided walking holidays. As the walking is not very demanding, The coast to coast walk should be treated with a lot of respect. It does have many challenging sections on the long walk. All the travellers who take up the self guided walking holidays walk through these paths with a lot of pride. This path is said to be one of the most adventurous path in all of Britain. As always, you should always be aware to take proper mountain climbing precautions before you go on this adventure walk. You should be skilled, fit and ready to face any challenges that you might encounter on the way. You should also be up to date on the weather forecast and be prepared for everything that a person would normally prepare for on walking holidays. The other things that you will need is a good map or maps of the terrain that you are on and a compass, which of course you should know how to use. Most of the terrain is well marked for you to scale by yourself. But just in case you find yourself lost, you should be able to find your way out.
The total length of the Coast To Coast walk is 190 miles and you will be able cover the entire distance in 12 – 14 days if you take a go at it at one shot. There are many alternative routes that are available for you to take in case you find the terrain too challenging for you to take. If you wish to live through the challenge there are some really difficult points that you should be willing to face if you are faced with them. As with most walking holidays, the trip gets split up into a section of many walks to give people a break from walking for too long. The end points of the travel are usually flooded with well catered local services to be able to give the area some popularity.
