Did you set New Year resolutions for yourself to achieve in 2009? Maybe you committed to eat better, get more exercise, or spend more time with your family. Or maybe you set yourself some business goals. All of these are very good resolutions, but how are you progressing with them now?
With about 100 days to go until the end of 2009, it's a good chance to look at what you've done so far this year and more importantly how to make the remainder of the year really count by preparing a plan to the end of the year. So have you met your resolutions that you established at the start of the year?
Here are a few ideas to evaluate where you are at with your resolutions as you approach the downhill run to the end of the year.
Take some time to sit down alone and review your goals. How many are you on mark to achieve? How many have you not even commenced? How many have you completed?
For those goals you haven't even commenced, obviously this goal hasn't been important, and most likely won't suddenly become so. Re-evaluate the need for this goal and if it is still important to you, reset your goal at 10 percent of the original so you can gain some progress this year.
For the goals you are on mark to complete, try to stretch these about 10 percent. This will give you a reason to kick into high gear for the remainder of the year.
And finally, for the goals you have already achieved, give yourself a reward.
For all these goals remember that it is better to try hard and fail, than to take the easy route and attain nothing at all.
If you're like me though, you may think that you need lots of goals, and that you need to achieve all of them in order to be successful. The key point to remember is that goals should be important to you, and bring value to your life in some way.
Realise that you are human, and that no one is perfect. Take small steps to reach your goals, and they won't seem so daunting.
By taking care of yourself, and not putting the pressure on to create resolutions that you may never keep, you'll be able to enjoy the rest of 2009 to your fullest.
