Resume is commonly called in North America and curriculum vitae in most of Europe and other parts of the world. Definitely a must have for anyone who is looking for a job. Your medium to your employer where you could make your best first impression in less than 15-30 seconds or your chance is pile up into trash. It doesn’t matter if you think you have what it takes to get the job done, at its best for the employer, if your resume doesn’t make it through the skimming process you’ll always be part of the crowd.
You have to understand that many companies now a day use computer program to sort out through all applications sent and pick up keywords and rank it from top to bottom. If you think it sounds unfair, there’s nothing you could do. Going through tons of application takes a lot of time and money so companies think they are doing their best to be efficient and productive by utilizing this program.
Now we have a good picture how the company sort out applications, logically jobseekers have to think to rank high through this process without sacrificing quality since at the end hiring managers will go through these sorted applications. A good start is the employer’s job post itself. Pick up their keywords and write your resume according to their qualifications. There’s no doubt you can pick some keywords that they will be using in their program so do your best to make your application fit their qualifications.
