We are residing in an information age with access to anything just with our finger tips over the internet and television. With cable and dish satellite TV, we have access to almost everything starting from sports, music, entertainment, history, cooking, kid’s shows, news, documentaries and many more. In recent years the dish satellite TV systems have turned to be the biggest threat for cable TV providers. The reason being the ability to offer more number of entertaining channels, affordable prices, superior customer service and better reception than standard cable TV. Even cable TV providers have tried to stay competitive in the television market by offering different channels and special deals to lure customers.
Cable TV providers face a major challenge with the changing technology of dish networks. Today, dish satellite TV has entirely changed the face of television viewing at homes. There are millions of dish network subscribers because of its affordability, easy availability, multi channel options, quality entertainment and added features like DVR (Digital Video Recording) capabilities, pay-per-view channels and ability to record live program options.
In some places dish satellite TV is the only option and generally satellite TV shoppers have three options in United States which are DBS satellite TV system, PC satellite System and TVRO satellite system. DBS is the acronym for Direct Broadcast Satellite while TVRO is also known as Television Receive Only. Currently DBS is the popular choice for dish network entertainment. Most of the satellite TV providers broadcast using DBS system. To view dish TV channels using DBS system, all you need is satellite signal decoder, a small dish antenna of about eighteen inches and of course a TV set.
Most of television viewers prefer the DBS satellite system because of its low cost installation, hassle free maintenance, stable receptions and availability of multi- channel facility. It is an enhanced commercial product for dish channels when compared to the TVRO system. Dish satellite TV via DBS system works in Ku-band. These satellites work on higher frequencies and have the ability to transmit higher power signals. This is the reason why smaller dish antennas can used to receive signals from DBS systems.
The TVRO System was the first satellite TV system available for home satellite viewing. It is often known as Ugly Dish or Big Dish. It uses C-Band which is in contrast to Ku-band that is used by DBS System for its signal transmission. Through its movable dish, TVRO systems can transmit common TV programs as well independent feeds from all over the world. Most of the news broadcasting crews all over the world normally transmit their first hand broadcast material via the TVRO system which is in the C-Band. Through this you can receive the unedited material if your dish antenna lies in that coverage area.
The extent of satellite TV system has once again expanded with the introduction of satellite PC system. Satellite PC system enables you to watch satellite TV programs on your PC through a piece of computer software. There are various types of PC software available in the market and most will allow you to watch thousands of satellite TV programs globally.
