Women in the world today deal with various infertility issues being encountered from time to time. Many of these women show infertility symptoms but sadly for some, they do not know that there is a problem until they realize that they cannot conceive. Numerous infertility signs, symptoms and causes range from women to women and can even affect the men in a relationship.

A couple should consult their doctor if there has been no pregnancy taking place even though they are trying. To be clearer, trying is one to two years of unprotected intercourse that averages three times a week. The couple may meet with their primary care physician or their regular OBGYN to diagnose if there is a fertility issue, before they are referred to a specialist.

Infertility manifests in different possible signs and the most common for women is the irregular menstrual cycle. Aside from that, it could also indicate a couple of other things and these will not necessarily mean that the woman is infertile. Another infertility sign is weight problem concerning women being too thin or obese. Those who are too thin and already bordering on emaciation can have conflicts conceiving because the necessary nutrients are lacking. On the other side, obese women sometimes suffer from hormonal problems that in turn affect their reproductive system. Drug addiction and alcohol abuse can also contribute to infertility. These are more of causes rather that signs of infertility because they are the reason why women are unable to conceive. Women who use illegal drugs and other substances can harm and abuse their bodies, destroying its natural balance. Thus they become candidates of infertility because of the substances and alcohol abuse that could affect and discourage the proper growth and foetus development.

Not just for women though, infertility sign can also be in men. Anatomic or physical problems may be signs of men’s infertility, like undescended testicle. Sometimes the sign of men’s infertility is due to an outside cause. For instance, men who wear tight underwear or jeans develop an inability to produce viable sperm. Exposure to heat on their scrotum and gonads can also lead to an inability to produce children.

Some of the signs of infertility may be the same for women and men. Both men and women can have an inability to produce offspring through weight problems like obesity or substance abuse like alcohol. For the same reason that a women’s body can malfunction and not be able to support pregnancy, a man might be affected because he may not be able to produce the right amount or form of sperm to conceive.

Rather then going straight to assuming infertility, couples that has been trying to get pregnant with no results should take steps to make sure they are having intercourse when the woman is ovulating. The woman can track her basal body temperature or use an ovulation kit to be sure that ovulation is currently happening. Most of the time, intercourse is just not happening around the right time of the month.
