Advice for Men on Romance

Romance is a notion that often eludes us men. Romance remains a mystery to most men and therefore they are not romantic towards their partners. Instead romance is a ambiguous thing, thus something which women are better accoutered to grasp and appreciate. This is a mystery that has baffled people since the start of time.

Although romance does not have an absolute definition, thankfully it can be described. A lot of what can be described as romantic are things, actions, and attitudes which women like or find attractive and want in a relationship. Since we are men we will find it hard to step into women’s shoes to find out first- hand what is romantic or not. The presence of the Y-chromosome in our genes virtually guarantees that. Happily, there are some rules which we can follow to overcome this handicap.

Sometimes it can just be the smallest of signals that turn out to be romantic. Most times only women will even take note of our romantic actions without us even being aware.

Examples of things which can be considered to have an inherent quality of romance are cute and cuddly things. For instance, a puppy is considered romantic so is a teddy bear. A heart shaped pillow is also romantic. If you are at a loss as to what else can be considered romantic, think about things which have no inherent usefulness but can be used to sit on a table or dresser. Small things are generally cute and therefore romantic too.

Candlelight can be extremely romantic and set the stage. It can be candles, dimming the lamps or simply a night under the stars.

Remember birthdays and anniversaries. If you forget any of these important dates, you do so at your peril and the danger of exposing yourself to cold treatment and tears from your special someone for at least a month or when her tantrum subsides, whichever lasts longer. Being romantic requires you to turn a blind eye to your special woman’s faults.

It does require a little creativity and effort to come up with things and words to cover this up. Also be thoughtful in what you say and make sure to commend her aswell. When put into a corner, call it refreshingly frank instead.

With these simple steps you can ensure your romantic evening goes really well.
