Ambedkar University Delhi,(AUD) was established in August 1998 by the Government of NCT of Delhi. This University is named after Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar.
The Ambedkar University Delhi (AUD) draws inspiration from the life and ideas of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, and is committed to develop itself as a unique institution engaged with its students with a dedicated spirit to innovative and develop meaningful ways of teaching, learning and generating knowledge contributing to the cause of equality and social justice and the promotion of excellence.
The University is located temporarily in the campus of the Integrated Institute of Technology, Sector 9, Dwarka, New Delhi. The university's library, computer laboratory, conference room, classrooms and office spaces are being set up in the interim location. A hostel will also be set up, although with limited capacity initially, at the temporary campus in Dwarka.It is one of the famous Universities In Delhi.
It is proposed that the university will work through its various Schools and Centres. These schools include the School of Undergraduate Studies, School of Development Studies, School of Human Ecology, School of Human Studies, School of Culture and Creative Expressions, School of Design, School of Business, Public Policy and Social Entrepreneurship, School of Educational Studies, School of Law, Governance and Citizenship and School of Liberal Studies. Various postgraduate diploma, degree, masters’ and doctoral programmes will be offered through these schools. It is one of the reputed Universities in India.
The AUD also plans to open centres for research, training and documentation. All these centres will work in a project mode and will be associated with the university's academic and research program. It plans to open centres namely- Centre for Leadership and Change, Centre for Equality and Social Justice, Centre for Early Childhood Development and Education, Centre for Engaged Spiritualities and Peace Building, Centre for Social Applications of Mathematics.
AUD encourages intellectual development and growth while participating in the establishment of a new university based on the principles of equality, humanism and excellence. The constantly developing research and teaching programmes of a unique interdisciplinary nature are attracting scholars to the university. It believes in adopting a flexible hiring arrangement that includes adjunct and visiting positions as well as post-doctoral fellowships that will enrich the regular faculty. The University also plans to invite reputed international universities for collaboration and partnerships with it and has started making offers of visiting fellowships and visiting professorships to international faculty who have expressed an interest in the university.
