There are many things to do in Llandudno and many people visit Llandudno every year. Llandudno is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning location and many activities to do. Llandudno is easily accessible via the train with direct trains to Manchester, Warrington, and Chester. Also Llandudno’s neighbouring train station Llandudno Junction offers direct trains to Betws-Y-Coed, Manchester, Holyhead, Chester, Crewe, and London Euston. Llandudno is also easily accessible via the National Express and the Main Road A55 which links north Wales to the North West of England.
Llandudno is situated on the coast of North Wales, in Gwynedd. It is a seaside resort which is traditionally Victorian as it was specifically built in the mid-Victorian era. Llandudno has a crescent shaped shoreline lined with lots of hotels for its visiting guest to stay at.
The Great Orme in Llandudno is a large limestone situated at the top of town. Here you can access the summit on the tram which was built in 1902 or on the cable cars. At the summit of the Orme there are fantastic views, with a children’s play area, café and information centre. Also on the summit of the great Orme are the copper mines of the Bronze Age. On the other side of The Great Orme is the Ski slope, one of the only two in North Wales, and one of the longest running ski slopes in the UK, situated next to a pub. Here a visitor can spend and enjoy the whole day exploring the Orme and its history.
In the main town of Llandudno a visitor can enjoy Llandudno’s famous shops. Llandudno is traditionally Victorian and its shops are situated in beautiful Victorian buildings which have been around since Llandudno was built. These shops include high street names and banks but also traditional Welsh shops selling local souvenirs and products for the visitor to enjoy. Just outside of Llandudno is Llandudno’s new shopping Retail Park called Park Llandudno. Here the latest high street shops are offered, so you can buy the latest UK fashion.
Llandudno’s beautiful shoreline has a lot to offer its visitors. The shoreline has a large promenade that stretches across it leading to The Victorian Pier. In the summer season there are lots of things going on along the promenade for tourists but also the Victorian pier is thriving with entertainment. With lots of pubs, restaurants, and cafes a day on the seaside is a must for any visitor.
A new addition to Llandudno is The Venue Cymru which was re opened in 2007. The new large theatre now caters for thousands and you can enjoy performances of live music, pantomime, opera, ice shows, comedy, and the ballet.
On the other side of Llandudno is its quiet neighbouring town of the West Shore. Here a visitor can enjoy a quieter visit to its cafes on the coast or visit the beach. West Shore has a beautiful beach which stretches to the River Conwy estuary with views of Conwy castle and the North Wales coast right to Anglesey. The West Shore is famous for its link to Alice in Wonderland, because this is where the real Alice in Wonderland from the book Alice Lidell spent her summers as a child.
Llandudno is also within a great location to visit other neighbouring historical towns with castles. Llandudno is next door to Conwy, which is also a popular tourist destination for people staying in Llandudno. Conwy is situated within its castles walls of Conwy Castle which was build between 1283 and 1289 by Edward the 1st. Other historical castles and towns to visit while in Llandudno are Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Dolbadarn and Dolwyddelan.
