A lot of people are using forums for meeting people with the same interest as they have. It might have nothing to do with running a business online, but the same rules seem to apply to forums regardless of whether they are business related or niche related.

There are people who will come onto a forum with no other purpose than to swindle people. They will want your money, and they will have lots of different ways to try and get it from you. A few are very subtle; they become members of a forum and gain the trust of other members. But after a time they will all of a sudden make it known they have a financial problem, and lots of people will quickly give to them.

Now you have to bear in mind that because one person tries this as a scam, it does not mean that when a member who is known says they have a need that they are going to cheat you. Intelligence is needed and you need to know people over a time before you will recognize any hidden motive that they have. People who run scams always have a hidden intention, and one sign that they are a scam is their story changes and becomes more of an unhappy state.

Then you will have people who try and act as If they know everything about the subject on the forum. They are always asking a question which makes you think they are highly knowledgeable but they never answer their own questions. They are going to try and get you to believe everything they say, but their hidden plan is one of getting money from you.

They are more subtle, they will try and sell you a product but won't tell you anything about it because they know if they did you wouldn't buy it. You trust them so why would they sell you something that was not a good product, simple they just want the money.

Scams on the internet have become more difficult at times to spot. They are being carried out at times by people who you thought were your friends. A lot of scams which come through email are very easy to spot especially when you are told there is a problem with your bank account, and you don't have an account with that bank.

Finally be very careful when you go onto a forum. The majority of people are magnificent people who will relate to you more than ever if you want help about running your business. But there will always be a very small minority who are just after your money, and they will do anything no matter how long a period of time it takes them to get it.
