Toddlers are rapidly developing during this phase. Along with the development of their physical, mental, and social skills, toddlers need guidance to help with their development. It is now no secret that playing has a vital role in the early years of children. However, there are games for toddlers which are perfect to enhance their development.

Generally, games for toddlers need to be repetitive. Children learn and master things through repetition and guided instruction. Also, games for toddlers need to be simple. This one’s obvious, but you would be surprised at how many parents try to force complicated games upon their children.

Sensory games for toddlers involve letting your child explore the surroundings using different senses. This promotes a better understanding of the world around him. One game involves taking your child out to your yard, or anywhere that’s safe for a toddler to run around. Let the child see and/or touch things, and even guide him to feel objects. Let your child realize that the rock is hard and the soil is soft. And then, help him figure out that the grass is green, and the sky is blue. This game just involves you and your child talking and letting him run around, with you in tow to tell him anything he wants to know.

On that note, there are also physical games for toddlers which you could enjoy with your child. Now, this doesn’t have to be an exercise at its finest – it can be as simple as actions to songs. As a parent, you can make up actions for different nursery rhymes and children’s songs. Don’t be shy. Perform those actions in front of your child. Make it look as fun as it can be, to get your child into the song and the actions. Once your toddler understands the actions, you can try singing the song and letting your child do the actions on his own.

Imaginative games for toddlers involve just lots and lots of imagination. You and your child can play these games or you can let the whole family, or other kids in the neighborhood join you. This type of games promotes creativity as your toddler starts to make up things. As you instruct that you’re all farm animals, or all firemen, or all turtles, the child would keep thinking and honing his imaginative skills. Imaginative games for toddlers are exciting for both the parents and the child.

As you can see, games for toddlers need not be complicated. They don’t even need rules at all. What’s important is that you enjoy your quality time with your child, and the development of all his skills will be stimulated.
