Diaper rash is an irritant contact dermatitis caused by the interaction of several factors, particularly the prolonged contact of the skin with urine and feces, which makes the skin more prone to disruption through friction with the diaper. Prevention of diaper rash is the ultimate goal, but if the condition does develop, treatment should aim to reverse the skin damage and prevent recurrence.

Diaper rash is caused by the skin being constantly exposed to wetness, so changing frequently can prevent the problem. Most of the diaper rash ointments on the market are designed simply to protect your baby’s skin from wetness, so they are great at preventing diaper rash. If your baby is diaper rash prone, you might want to use an ointment at every changing as a preventative measure.

In the more mild cases of diaper rash, treatment can be done relatively quickly and easily. First, clean the area very well, making sure not to skip over folds in the skin. Then apply diaper rash ointment, following the directions on the label. It will be very important to change diapers frequently as you are trying to keep wetness away from the area.

A yeast infection is different from a diaper rash in that it appears as a flat, red rash with scalloped edges that have several tiny rashes around it. A yeast infection rash may extend along the pubic area and onto the lower part of the baby’s abdomen.

Diaper rash occurs in the area where incontinence occurs, the buttocks, anal area, and genitals. Visual indicators include redness of the skin, raised bumps, and burned looking skin. Reasons that diaper rash occurs when the pH of the skin increases when a prolonged presence of urine and fecal matter is in contact with the skin.

Insects and spiders, whether they bite or sting can produce a variety of skin rash types. These can be local in nature or cover the whole body if an individual is allergic to the bug bite. Plants such as poison ivy and poison oak are problematic as well, and will cause skin rashes and blistering.

Diaper rash is easy to see. It's a red rash on your child's bottom. The redness may be appear with blisters or pimples if your baby has bad diaper rash. This redness appears on the child's bottom, genitals and in the creases of the leg.

This rash is caused by the skin remaining wet too long. It is found in the folds of skin in the groin area, under the chin during the "drooling age" and in the armpit area. While some people like to use cornflour, this can lead to further infection as it retains moisture, it is best to use a moisture barrier crème such as zinc oxide or zinc and castor oil. Intertrigo is extremely painful, so avoid rubbing the skin.

Mothers who take antibiotics during pregnancy or babies who receive antibiotics soon after birth may be even more susceptible to thrush in their bodies, and it can be passed on to each other through breastfeeding. Although the antibiotics do their job by killing the bad bacteria, they can also destroy the good bacteria, which protect the body.
