Just think about the jobs performed by your parents and grandparents in the past. It is easy to recognize that technology has reduced the activity required to execute the same duties today.
Study after study has demonstrated that obesity is a significant threat to longevity and good health, but many people are not even aware that they are medically obese - the generally accepted definition of obesity is over 25% body fat for men, and over 32% body fat for women. An estimated 20% of American adults fit this profile.
You have the ability to prevent unhealthy weight gain and related health problems if you are classified as normal or overweight, and even if you are obese or at risk of becoming obese. You will not be surprised to discover that the things you need to do to stop gaining weight are the same things you need to do to lose weight.
Being the primary cause of obesity, one's diet should consist of healthy foods that can supply the nutrients needed by the body at an ample amount. Lean meat should be in moderate amounts coupled with a good-sized serving of fresh fruits and vegetables plus whole grain products. Sugar intake should be minimal.
Over-nutrition during our childhood days contributes greatly to obesity. The rate of formation of new fat cells is the fastest during the early stages of our lives; hence over-nutrition will cause a greater rate of formation which gives rise to fats. However, after adolescence the number of fat cells does not grow any further.
So why is there a connection between sleeping and gaining weight? Studies have shown that getting less than eight hours of sleep makes your body store more ghrelin. These are the hormones responsible for our hunger cravings. It also lowers leptin, which is the hormones that tells our bodies that we are full.
It’s very easy when you are out with your children and there is a delay for the train or bus to keep them quite by simply giving them food to keep them quite. This is counter productive; divert their attention in other ways.
Second, you need to do a kitchen clean up and remove all those stuff which are literally responsible for increasing fat and body mass. Remove refined four, polished sugar and instead bring in whole grain flour, whole sugar items like raw sugar, stevia or honey, food with little or no additives or preservatives.
Another good idea, is to never eat while watching television, because so many do not realize how much they actually consume during their favorite tv show, if you are going to snack try snacking on something healthy with a low amount of calories. You should also cut down on beverages that are high in sugar, try drinking a lot of water, it will make you feel full and it can make you feel all around better.
Make all foods equal and teach kids to check in with their bodies and choose foods based on what their bodies are asking for.
