One man that stands out on Survivor: Fiji is Yau-Man Chan. Obviously, he has distinct features, having Asian attributes, not to mention his flimsy physique. But perhaps, he is exceptional because underneath his meek appearance is a powerhouse of wit and acumen, which can possibly come with age.

Although his inclusion on the show has not sparked immense hype, his existence on the program has prompted viewers to become aware of his unique traits. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he had his own following, Survivor or no Survivor.

Chan is a 54-year old native of Borneo. He studied at All Saints Secondary School in Kota Kinabalu and immigrated to the United States to study at Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he acquired his Bachelor of Science degree. In addition, he pursued his Masters at the University of California in Santa Barbara. Intellectual and highly proficient, he became the Director of Information Systems for the College of Chemistry at the University of California in Berkley. His position spans managing business database systems, research, setting up networks, and designing electronic circuits among others. This versatile man has also worked as a housepainter, cook and dishwasher. Apart from his occupation, he spends his time woodworking, reading and playing table tennis. In fact, he is a member of the USA Table Tennis Association. Given his extensive educational background and his numerous accomplishments in life, it is suffice to say that he is indeed multitalented.

Wise and sensible, he consistently exudes prudence and good leadership on the show Survivor with his determination to make the most out of every situation notwithstanding the risks on his fragile body. His presence on the show is very consuming in a non-pompous kind of way. With his good-natured persona, as well as his survival skills, he is certainly capable of winning the competition.
