For students looking forward to study abroad, Singapore is the ultimate destination. Encompassing a wide array of religions, the nation has diverse cultural districts speckled all over it, which in turn adds value to the rich culture of Singapore. The country boasts of having courses that are very popular among a large majority of international students belonging to countries like India, Vietnam, Malaysia, China, and Indonesia. For Study in Singapore, student should full fill are the requirements of eligibility.
Over the past few years, the nation has developed from its traditional British-based education scheme to the system that is absolutely competent to meet the needs of individuals and aims to encourage talents.
The potential of Singapore’s learning system lies in its bilingual policy (English and Mandarin) and a comprehensive study program proffering the immense significance to innovation and entrepreneurship. After pursuing these constructive courses, students attain relevant skills to make a steady position in the highly competitive environments, promising a bright future.
The Ministry of Education manages the university and school education in Singapore. The ministry has extensive rights to direct the learning policies, control the management and development of state schools in Singapore. In addition, it also has a managerial and consultative role in the private schools of Singapore. When it comes to the number of universities available in Singapore, the country has four main universities, out of which two are public universities and the other two are private universities.
Education Programs
The Singapore universities and other higher learning foundations gladly accept students from almost every part of the globe. For getting an admission into an undergraduate program, the international students are required to clear an assessment test after the successful completion of the bridge program. A bridge program is a higher learning program specially planned to help a student having an initial educational level. The program assists the student in achieving a higher degree in the same field of study in a short span of time than an entry-level student would need.
As far as the duration of postgraduate courses is concerned, a post graduate course usually lasts for two years, but sometimes it can be completed even within one year, depending upon the nature of the program. A postgraduate course offered by the Singapore universities can be enormously useful in getting a job in the international market, particularly in the fields of arts, technology, and science.
Apart from these programs, the universities in Singapore also offer PhD degree programs. They are basically the third-level degree courses in the Singapore education system.
Basic Entry Requirements
To get an admission into a Bachelor’s degree program, a student needs to attach authentic copies of certificates. And for getting an admission into a Master’s degree program, international students are required to have a four-year Bachelor’s degree.
Students willing to pursue PhD programs in Singapore need to have a Master's degree in the subject area.
Application Process
For seeking an admission into a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree course, students have to approach the international offices of the respective Singapore universities to avail admission forms. The filled applications have to be sent back to the respective university along with the authenticated copies of certificates and other necessary credentials attached to them.
Student Visa and Immigration Requirements
Any international student willing to pursue a full-time course from a registered Singapore University has to apply for a student pass. Student pass holders are sternly not allowed to be involved in any kind of employment, whether it is paid or unpaid. They can involve themselves in a paid or unpaid occupation only when they have the consent of the Director of Immigration in writing. Violation of this law is a punishable offence.
So, if you are looking for an employment opportunity after your graduation, make sure your student pass does not expire. In that case, you may have to apply for a social visit pass at the Singapore Immigration and Registration Office nearly two weeks before the termination of your student pass.
