Addiction to the internet will be one of the problems of parents in this generation. Social networking sites like Facebook and My Space tends to be an everyday food of many teenagers. Many of them are addicted to the web but since being addicted to drugs, smoking and liquor are parents’ fears about their children parents, don’t worry much.
Due to this fact, many people who wear medical uniforms are worried. " Cyberbullying is a very worrisome problem for kids, yet the majority of parents say they are not concerned about it," Dr. Matthew Davis, said in a news release from the University of Michigan Health System.
Many teenagers are already fond of surfing the net almost every hour, preferring it more than their daily food, their studies and even their lives. But even parents are not anxious or even aware of this kind of addiction. "Parents are quite aware of some online safety risks but seem less aware about others," Dr. Davis, further said. "We know from other studies that about one in seven children between the ages of 10 and 17 have received sexual solicitation over the Internet, and about one in three children have been exposed to sexually explicit material. So it's not a surprise that most parents whose kids are online unsupervised are concerned about issues related to sexual predators and pornography." But not about addiction on famous social networking sites.
Anything that is too much is wrong. No matter how good it is or appealing to the eyes, if it is taken or done too much, its consequences will still be wrong and bad specially to the youth sector.
So what will be the actions of the parents about this matter? What will be the actions of medical personnel if this addiction will cause some kinds of diseases not just physically but mentally and even emotionally.
Should we wait for the consequences to be visible or should we make a solution to this problem? Parents should know the best for their children. They should know their children’s hobbies if it can build the best of their children’s personality or ruin their children’s life.
