As everyone becomes more health conscious we are all looking for ways to stay in shape. Not only are people rushing out to buy expensive gym memberships, they are buying home equipment. You may be one of those people who feel that a gym is the only place to work out. What about cheap or free ways to exercise without spending money, that in this economy, many people can’t part with.
One option for some people is the local YMCA. Not only do a lot of YMCA’s have workout equipment, some have swimming pools and other features. Memberships are much more affordable than gym memberships and can have perks if you have children. Many gyms charge for childcare, while the YMCA has free child watch for members.
Another option is taking advantage of walking paths and trails. If you live where the climate is fairly warm, you can take your walking gear and head out for a scenic walk. Not only is this free, you will feel and be healthier from the Vitamin D from the sun. If you have kids you could even bring them along, or push them in a stroller to add to the workout.
Did you know that if you want a workout from your video game console, you don’t have to spend hundreds to get the Wii Fit? The popular game DDR has a workout feature. It tells you how far you have "run," how many calories you have burned, and much more. You should check it out if you have the game!
Many local high schools have swimming pools and sometimes have open and lap swim for a small fee. If you want a cheap workout, swimming gives you an all around cardio workout. It also keeps you fit in every aspect, including your lungs.
All in all, there are numerous cheap ways to workout that are already in your community or home.
