Clomid Introduction:
The brand name for the fertility drug clomiphene citrate is Clomid. Clomiphene citrate might be sold under the trade name Serophene. So if you take the brand name Clomid, Serophene or generic version of clomiphene citrate, it’s all same drugs.
Clomid is the very famous infertility drug and that’s because it is most commonly used by the people who suffer from this problem. Approximately 25% of female factor infertility deals with a problem related to ovulation, and Clomid, as a fertility medication, is simple to use (taken as a tablet, not an injection), without so many side effects.
Clomid Usage:
Clomid is used at that time when somebody is suffering problems with ovulation, but no troubles with barren fallopian tubes. (In that particular case, stimulating ovulation would be worthless –- the sperm and the egg cannot meet if the tubes are blocked.) If a woman is suffering from irregular cycles, or anovulatory cycles (i.e. menstruation without ovulation), Clomid should be tried as the first resort.
Clomid is also used during an IUI (intrauterine insemination) practice, but it is hardly ever used during IVF treatment.
Clomid Dosage:
You must follow the guidelines your doctor gives you, as each doctor has a somewhat different protocol.
However, the most general dosage of Clomid is 50 mg, taken for five days, on the days 3 to 7 of your cycle, or the days 5 to 9 of your cycle. Ovulation and pregnancy rates are shown to be similar even if the drug is started on second, third, four, or fifth day, so please don’t feel troubled even if your doctor recommends you a dissimilar protocol to follow than suggested to your friend.
Clomid’s Side Effects:
Clomid’s side effects are not so harsh, as much as fertility drugs are concerned. The very common side effects of the medicine are hot flashes, breast softness, mood swings, and vomiting. But once you stop taking the medications the side effects will also get disappear.
The side effect you are certainly most familiar with is the chance of multiples. You have a 10% possibility of having twins if you are taking Clomid, but triplets or multiples of more rarely happen, lesser than 1% of the time.
One of the more frustrating side effects to figure out is that Clomid can reduce the quality of your cervical mucus (sperm need this to make their way to the egg), and results in making conception more complicated. Clomid, in some cases makes the lining of your uterus thinner and thus, less suitable for implantation.
Clomid’s Success:
Clomid would enhance ovulation in 80% of patients, and about 40% to 50% of women taking Clomid will get pregnant within six cycles of usage.
Usage of Clomid for more than six cycles is not usually suggested. If six cycles pass by, and pregnancy is not attained, other alternatives which are available must be considered
Clomid Availability:
Clomid is a kind of medicine which should be taken without prescription and if it is prescribed by the doctor you can buy Clomid from a nearby store. There is one more option available to buy Clomid that you can order Clomid online. If you order Clomid online then there must be a possibility that you can get some discount on the medicine.
